Evan Hargrave is a composer and performer based in Portland Oregon. His experience performing a broad range of repertoires, from renaissance polyphony to contemporary collaborations, have informed his unique compositional approach that melds modernist sonorities with contrapuntal lyricism.
This is a recent movement performed by the musicians from the Soundbox Fellowship Program. Athletic passages move in parallax with dreamy harmonies and long sustained tones. I would like to pair it with additional movements for a complete Clarinet Sonata.
During my MMus in Composition, I also undertook a serious study of the organ, which has deeply impacted my approach to music more broadly. This is a fun diptych by Jehan Alain and one of my best recordings.
